Exploring Vaginas, Feminism and ‘The Sisterhood’

Layla Martin is a tantric therapist and director of the film Your Vagina is More Beautiful Than You Think. It provoked some unexpected responses from UPLIFT readers when we featured it online. We ask Layla why she made the film. We also explore the evolving distinction between feminism and ‘the sisterhood’. Don’t they share the same goals?

Comedian Mandy Nolan, author Zenith Virago, and UPLIFT writer Azriel Re’Shel, tease out the issues with host Chip Richards. And Lauren Walsh, co-director of Unity Global Sisterhood, shares all the details you need, to take part in Global Sister Circles this International Women’s Day.

About Our Guests

Layla Martin is a Tantric sex therapist, and known as the ‘headmistress of pleasure’. She has spent time studying sexuality both at Stanford University and in the jungles of Asia with Tantric masters. Layla is now on a mission to teach us all how to upgrade to an organic and healthy approach to love and sex.

Mandy Nolan  is a comedian, author, journalist, humour therapist, and comedy coach. She has a unique ability to captivate a truly diverse range of audiences, from those found at the rough and tumble of late night comedy clubs to VIP Guests at prestigious events. Mandy is also the mother of five children, who she credits as the true source of her creativity. ‘When I had kids, everything else looked easy!’

Zenith Virago is an author and feminist activist. She appeared alongside Mandy Nolan in The Vagina Conversations where they shared their own personal stories about the most intimate area of a woman’s body: the vagina.  Zenith has also been a Celebrant and Deathwalker for over 20 years.

Azriel Re’Shel is a former journalist for SBS Radio and BBC World Service Radio, and has also worked as a TV News Journalist. Now a respected UPLIFT Writer, Azriel has published a number of popular articles, most notably Why Women Need a Tribe and Reviving the Ancient Sisterhood.  When she’s not making magic with her words, Azriel also enjoys traveling and being a loving mother to her four children, cat, and bunnies.

Lauren Walsh is the co-director of Unify Global Sisterhood, a growing movement of women who join together in sister circles  to support and empower each other. She believes we all have Divine intuition, and that the “I am not enough” story is just that: a story.
