Women Seeding Change

Clare Dubois had a life-changing car accident that is becoming a planet-changing movement. Swerving off the road and hitting a tree sounds like a terrible collision, but if that tree happens to be the one thing that keeps you from flying off a high cliff then you may call it a huge blessing. In moments like this, when we narrowly avert death, we tend to see things in a different light and recognize the preciousness of every moment. As she sat there reflecting, she had a very vivid revelation that has created ripples of inspiration, hope for many humans, and millions of trees for the planet. She has also figured out how to permanently avert failure, a skill that anyone will find valuable in their toolbox!

Tree Sisters want to grant you radical permission to re-green the planet with their epic campaign to plant one billion trees. Dubois says that fear of failure is often worse than failure itself, so she wanted to make sure that there is no way this mission can fail. Why? Because it is only an experiment and it is impossible to fail an experiment. Modeling the symbiotic relationship of the forest, which shows mutual support for all species, Tree Sisters are generously building a global community of people who are shifting humanity away from being a consumer species, to a ‘restorer species.’

Tree Sisters exists to elicit collective responsibility for planetary restoration at the grass roots level with a focus on women and tropical reforestation. We are growing a global network of women who donate monthly to fund the acceleration of tropical reforestation as an expression of collective planetary care. – Tree Sisters

Feminine empowerment and reforestationTree Sisters is a twin tree–part feminine empowerment and part reforestation.

Connecting Women and Trees Around the World

Trees are nature’s way of making sure we have fresh water, rain, good soil, and a healthy climate. Humans have consumed 80% of our forests globally and we are all seeing the effects now with super storms, fires, droughts, and flooding. We need to help sequester atmospheric carbon as fast as we can, and trees represent one of the best solutions we have to escalating climate disruption. Trees grow much faster in the tropics and they absorb carbon from the atmosphere three times faster than temperate trees. That is why Tree Sisters are currently planting in Brazil, Madagascar, Kenya, and India with expansion into at least four more countries this year!

The money we receive from planting trees is promoting our families. We are not all that poor anymore and we have improved our living standard… Women never surrender. Even if there’s money or not, the fact remains that we are here to plant trees for the benefit of all. – Amastacia Mjoki Mjagi, Mt Kenya

Dubois sees the oppression of women, a de-valuing of the feminine principles of nurturance, healing, feeling and receptivity as being correlated with the way humans have been treating the planet. Taking without giving back, conquering and dominating behaviors have upset the delicate balance needed for a healthy community and environment. That’s why she feels that it is important for women to lead the charge and intelligent men everywhere are eager to support this movement towards planetary healing.

So, the path of the co-creator is to be awakened spiritually within, which then turns into your own deeper life purpose, which then makes you want to reach out and touch others in a way that expresses self and really evolves our communities and our world. Certainly, we can’t do that unless we activate ourselves first. That’s why, for me, emergence is the shift from ego to essence. That is so important. – Barbara Marx Hubbard

Cultivating Feminine Leadership Rooted in Nature

Since personal transformation and planetary transformation are linked, the Tree Sisters have launched a powerful online series of workshops called the Inner Journey of Awakening. Women leaders like Joanna Macy, Lynne Twyst, Mona Polacca, Barbara Marx Hubbard and others will be speaking during a series of podcasts that launches this week and continues through to December 7. Podcasts will be available well into the future if you miss the live broadcast. You can learn more about the free podcasts and the featured presenters here.

As an apex species, humans have the capacity to create or destroy life. We can no longer continue to avoid this truth. Everything we do has an impact–like driving your car, or leaving the lights on. This is natural in our modern world but we must begin to recognize how much we consume on a daily basis and begin to make sure that we give back to the planet equally. This is how we sustain a balanced and healthy ecosystem and life for all. Since previous generations were not aware of this, we may need to practice giving back more than we take for a few generations, to make up for decades of unconscious overconsumption. That’s why Tree Sisters is determined to make this journey empowering and, most of all, fun!

The Tree Sisters Billion Trees campaign

Inner and Outer Program of Healing

Are you ready to unleash yourself and become a force of nature on behalf of nature? Tree Sisters have a beautiful program that starts with an inner journey to heal one’s self, while providing many outlets for people to get involved in actively growing this evolutionary movement. With many individuals making small monthly donations, collectively, they are currently planting almost 100,000 trees per month.

One US Dollar plants about 2.5 trees, which means that $20 per month employs a woman to plant about 50 trees, which is 600 trees per year. If you took the price of a latte for one day each week and applied that at the end of the month to support Tree Sisters, you would be making a huge impact and participating in a regenerative program that supports women and the planet. How many trees will you be able to say that you planted by the end of the year?

Tree Sisters partners with Project Green Hands and We Forest in India, Eden Projects in Madagascar and Nepal, International Tree Foundation in Kenya and Camaroon, and more are being added all the time. This provides work for women in these parts of the world, which also empowers their role in the family and community. When we work together to support each other and the planet, we create ripples of generosity and healing around the world. As life-givers, and nurturers, it is only fitting that this movement of healing our planet is led by women and supported by men everywhere.

Join the tree revolutionBecome part of a legacy of women who are bringing solutions to a world out of balance.

An Empowering Feminine Revolution

Just as the near-death experience of having a tree stop Clare Dubois’ car from going over a cliff, the metaphor equally applies to all of humanity. Planting trees; lots of trees, will help us avert having a run-away climate crisis that threatens the health of every living species. Emma Goldman stated, “If I can’t dance, I don’t want to be part of your revolution,” and Tree Sisters are leading a revolution that is celebratory, wild, creative, empowering and radically joyous.

When you support this organization, you become part of a legacy of women who are bringing solutions to a world out of balance. Remember, it’s an experiment so there’s no way we can fail! Take some time to learn about this hopeful and inspired movement that is transcending ages, categories and nations with the nurturing and powerful love of the feminine. Together we will create a beautiful planet for future generations to enjoy.

Giving yourself is a miracle.
Your care and energy are gifts that change the world.
The dreams that you share,
Are the soil out of which anything can happen,
And together, with full hearts and willing hands,
We can weave a future that looks back smiling,
Reminding us about who we chose to become.
– Clare Dubois
