What really matters in life? And, while we’re asking the big questions, who are we when it truly comes down to it, and where are we going?
Every culture has stories about the people and answers to these questions. And the way we answer them has profound effects on the health of both people and the planet as a whole. There are two stories answered here – the story of the self, and the story of the people.
We see ‘out there’ as separate from ‘me’, so we convince ourselves that things that happen out there don’t affect us. Gulf Oil spills, nuclear disasters, wars, happen ‘out there’, but I’m separate and immune to these things happening somewhere far away. Or am I? This logic actually contradicts our felt experience.
Charles Eisenstein debunks the myth of the separate self.
